Go Swimming Together:
There is little description needed for this. No matter where you live, there is most likely a pool, lake, or ocean you can visit together. If none of those work for you or your child, you can find a variety of water-related activities in your area.
WMTDS (What Makes This Date Special):
Any time you spend with your child related to exercise and is special. There is something about engaging in physical activity with them that affirms your bond together.
Teachable Moments:
Learning to swim
Exercise
Variations:
Splash pads for younger children. Water parks. In wintertime, you can always go swimming at an indoor pool, and if one is unavailable, try asking some local hotels if they have an indoor pool you could pay to use or even spend the night at a local hotel and swim.
Expense:
Swimming can be a free date or one for very little expense. If you have room in your budget, you can choose to take them to a water park if your city offers one. If you don’t have an area to swim, there is a good likelihood that your town may have a splash pad if your child is younger which would be free. Also, you can always reach out to a friend and ask if you can use the pool in their neighborhood. We have friends from time to time that will use our neighborhood pool key which is a great way to make this a free date if needed.
