A great way to spend time with your kids is to write stories together

Write stories together. This may or may not something you are drawn to, but don’t simply dismiss it because you don’t think it would be a good fit. This is an excellent way for you and your child of any age to sit down and be creative. If this is the first time you’ve ever had a date with your child and a 13-year-old boy, this may not be the best idea to start with, but apart from something like that, give this idea a try. You can do this with a child that’s 4-5, or you can do this with your 17-year-old daughter. You can handwrite the story, type them up, or use an old-fashioned typewriter if you can find one. Pick a particular genre if you want or leave it open-ended, it’s totally up to you.
WMTDS (What Makes This Date Special):
This is a simple way for you both to share creativity. You can write a story together, or you can write to them individually and then share them. This can be a keepsake for your family to pull back out and look at later.

It doesn’t have to be a story. Write a song or a poem. Make a part of your date, taking your work, and reading it publicly. Share it with your family. Have your work printed with the local printers. If your child enjoys this date, you could surprise them, and have it printed at a local print shop. You could make this a beautiful gift for not a lot of expense.
